Ok I have two cold sores on the same lip right now. It hurts really bad...but guess what....I found a way to stop it from hurting! Do you have Q-Tips? Do you at least have Petroleum jelly? That is the key! Get a tissue, Q-tips...whatever...just dip something in the jelly and add it to your cold sore like lipstick! It will most likely hurt, so don't add too much pressure...unless you want to jump off of a bridge. It feels weird, but it helps! Like I'm about to go to sleep right now..the point is...it is WAAAAYYYY less painful than rubbing garlic or salt or whatever on it...imagine that, that is really on yahoo answers. So many stupid people out there...right? Lol. Anyways, just get some of that jelly and put some on, it feels like lipstick, and softens the sore making it stretch and not feel like your lip is cracking in half. Try not to follow those painful ways...just chill and relax and use a small amount of this stuff and the sore will be gone soon! Good luck! Remember not to put too much pressure on it!

I've purchased some of the most expensive lip medications that are on the market and wasted a lot of money. The best, cheapest, and quickest way to get rid of cold sores is by dabbing some Aloe Vera plant directly on the sore. A small plant is cheap and easy to find. Just cut a small piece off and lightly dab some of the liquid directly on the sore, repeat through out the day. It soothes the area and starts the healing process almost instantly. For best results, if possible apply some Aloe Vera at the first sign of a sore or when you get that tingling sensation on your lip which usually occurs before an eruption. (Wow, now I sound like one of those commercials).
