Hello. as my gpu doesn't work anymore, im using integrated graphics chip. My friend got a new gpu, and he wants to give me his old card, which is still good for gaming. So do i need to just put it to my PC, connect hardware, and it will work or i need to install drivers or any software?

You need to check if your motherboard has a slot for a GPU, if it already has an intergrated chip it might not have one. Your PC (assuming win7 or better) should recognize the board if it is a common make and it should autoinstall drivers. If it doesn't (and even if it does) then you need to download and install the latest drivers.
Try it and see. One thing though is I can't see how the drivers could damage your gpu, drivers are very specific to the device and designed to not overwork or stress it. That is a mystery to me. As far as I'm aware the GPU should be PnP, if you need the drivers download an older one that is appropriate to the age of the card and see how it goes, you can always update it later. Have fun :)
Thanks for answer, i use win7 and have slot for Gpu.
By the way my friend has 2 PCs and exchanged their GPUs (Changed places) it worked fine, didnt need any drivers. I just wonder if my PC needs, because when i had Geforce 8500, i downloaded latest drivers and they broke my gpu.
