Hi! I have a ELA project and I’m suppose to choose a family member to honor. I have to explain why I choose this person and bring in a piece of memorabilia or item that reminds me of this person I’m going to honor. It’s suppose to be like “The person I want to honor is.... She is a hero to me because.....The item I brought in today is ..... The object represents.....” By the way it means like a hero to me. If I wasn’t clear my question is How is my mom a hero and what item to bring in ?

It is so nice to hear from you because you have set a fine example of obedience. “‘Honor your father and your mother’; which is the first command with a promise: ‘That it may go well with you and you may endure a long time on the earth.’”Ephesians 6:2, 3. So if you obey your parents, you will be happy. Your future will be secure, and you also honor God because he is the one who commands you to obey them.
In todays world the family arrangement by God has been disregarded by many parents due to many obstacles and personal problems. Therefore honoring a mother and father can be a challenge. The bible did not say honor your and father only if they are nice. Our part is to be compassionate if nothing else, because most of the time parents are themselves broken down from childhood and by this system. Even if you have to be separated from them for sometime or never see them again you may be able to give that honor to another parent who is deserving.
In a Whirlpool Foundation survey of 1,000 American children ages 6 through 17, most preferred doing simple, everyday things with their mothers, essentially “just being together.” Ways to thank their mothers was also simple. Seventy percent said that they most often give their mother a “hug and a kiss.” Their next favorite ways were to say, “I love you” and “Thank you.
