there was no contract signed, just a transfer of $43k into my parents account. which they stated " it would be invested or give back when needed in an emergency" they refuse all together to send it back to me at all.. what should I do?

well it sounds like you may have been taken advantage of for money like that their trying to keep it either that they don't have any money to give it back to you what reason of any are they saying why they won't give it back you probably didn't think you needed a contract trust was broken plus they probably thought you owe them for what ever reason and you probably don't have that kinda money laying around you could put a lean on their house or property that might get it back you could get a attorney
unfortunatelly, no matter what country you live in, there is no other way than bringing them to court. this might not be succesful though as you voluntarily paid the money. you need to take professional legal advice I am afraid, there is a general legal principle that applies in both continental and anglo-saxon legal systems of 'fairness of price for the benefit obtained' but this is very vague, it needs to be proved following the applicable procedures, so you can not avoid a lawyer if you believe that you are entitled to that money
