So I have been doing wing chun for a few months recently, and I have started to do some research on my sifu's background. As it turns out, my sifu seems to just be somebody who is pretending to have a great background in kung fu, while in reality he actually has very little experience. On top of that, wing chun doesn't appear to be very useful in real combat.
I did some research about some other styles and I absolutely love seeing jiu jitsu. I did some research on the guy who instructs the jiu jitsu academy nearby and he seems legit. He has won a few tournaments, and is constantly asked to teach in some other places, etc. He seems way better than my current wing chun teacher.
I asked my mother if I could switch schools, but she is completely against it for some reason. First of all, she, despite my research, believes that kung fu teacher is a legit teacher, who has a good background, which is not true. But the thing that seems to be bothering her most is the fact that she thinks that she is wasting her money by switching schools because I would not be learning much. She is also worried that I might switch schools again and again.
I tried to convince her that jiu jitsu is what I really want, but she doesn't seem to understand martial arts. Any help here?
