He is the captain of a ship called the Eutony (The meaning I am going for is the pleasantness of a words sound) in my scifi writing. His mind connects to his ship but when his ship is destroyed, he has to figure out how to process things without his databases however i need him to go away in the story and figure I should kill him but I want a slight challenge and want an idea to use provided by others.
How should I kill a character?

Have him be injured when the ship is damaged. Then its a mstter of time before he dies only he doesnt realize it. Doesnt matter if he comes up with the right answers becsuse hes going to die anyway. Like in the old west a shot in the belly meant death but not for a while perhaps several hours.
You can make one of his crew men down load a virus into his data base that kills him. Maybe someone he's not always gotten along with in the story who always had the hopes of becoming captain??? Or maybe he comes across some debris or rocks that harm his ship so badly that he's shut down. oooo or maybe for his own sake he has to shut down to save himself and his ship. So now he's just floating around seen by others in the fog...
I was thinking something similar. Perhaps something destroys the mechanics in his chest or just hits him, causing broken bones or internal bleeding.
