How practically enforceable is a warranty for international web based purchases?

I want to make an expensive purchase over the internet from an overseas retailer. I'm in Australia and they're in Canada.

It's very important that I have a valid warranty for this product. If the company reneged on the warranty, would I have an in practice legal recourse? Or would I have to catch a plane and attend a court in person?

Any purchase you make should be where theres a warrenty this puts reassurance to the item being bought that if its damage in anyway plus the shipping. Depending what the laws are in the state where you got it i would think you would have legal recourse that protects you.
