How often does Mt Vesuvius erupt?

The thing with volcanoes is that they dont have a timer. Vesuvius has eruptedd 50 times or so since 79 A.D, so we can approximate it erupts about every 38.75 years. The last eruption was 1944, so we can guess, again guess, that it will erupt very soon for it has passed the expected date of 1983.
