A friend came to me with an idea for a new business. He wants to be a silent partner. How much of a percentage should I pay him for the idea. I will be paying for everything.

well it depends on how well the idea has proccessed and has came alive you know one day i would conscider asking him what he thinks is fair as part of the deal if your paying for all the stuff thats required you basically paying him for the idea he brought to your attention and you took it to the next level i would say 30 percent might be fair
Hi Tenkash,
It depends on what you define as an answer.
Most people confuse ideas with concepts.
An idea is a formless abstract image of a product; whereas a concept is formed image of a product.
Example of an idea: a new food experience for the elderly in Amsterdam;
Example of a concept: a new Digestible French Fries Fast-Food Franchise.
You cannot sell an idea, but you can sell a concept.
For your concept to be marketable, you have to test it.
You can test a concept using causal market research.
For a deeper insight on idea, concept, product and experience development, I strongly recommend a recent book, Social Entrepreneurship, The Secret to Starting a Business Worth Living For.
Google for the title of the book, to get list prices.
Hope it helps.
