I don't mean to ask the population of Pakistan ( 190 million ). I'm asking roughly how many people are FROM pakistan, by means of heritage/roots ?

I think that's a tricky question because Pakistani people are not a single ethnic group. The largest ethnic group in Pakistan are Punjabi's; followed by Pashtun's who can also be referred to as Afghani's.
What also makes it difficult to determine the answer to your question is that Pakistan didn't even exist up until 70 years ago, and before that there was no such thing as Pakistani people. They were all just Indians.
After Pakistan was created, Many Punjabi's moved there while many other Punjabi's stayed in India.Punjabi's in India consider themselves Indian, and Punjabi's in Pakistan consider themselves Pakistani, even though they're the same people. Also, don't forget about the Pashtuns I mentioned, who are not Indians, but rather, Afghans. Pakistan also has Sindhi's who are another Indian ethnic group.I don't think your question has an answer.
