So I am currently in my freshman year with an average of a 3.8 GPA with several honors classes. However, I feel that having a high gpa and taking honors classes simply won't do for a top 30 college admission. So I was considering taking AP Biology but I chose not to on the last minute due to the reason that I'm simply not interested in that class. I also know that class won't benefit me unless I decide to study biology which will likely not happen (I am aware of the credit I will receive). And now I'm questioning on whether not taking an AP class in my sophomore year will negatively impact my chances of getting accepted into a top 30 college. But my real question is, how many AP classes is a reasonable amount to take (throughout my highschool years) for a better chance of getting accepted into a decent college?

First of all, most college degrees require you to have a Biology and Chemistry credit, or at the least science, even if it's not a science degree. Colleges usually recommend taking at least one AP class a year, but depending on your comfort level I recommend taking 2 or 3 a year. AP biology if you were to take I'd recommend you wait until at least your Junior or Senior year though.
