If you're going by the television doc's recommendations, last meal should be around 19 - 20 (presumably a few hours). Personally I never seemed to experience any adverse effects directly from this, whereas from sleep deficit most definitely.

Well it's not "unsafe" to go to bed right after eating. Eating your last big meal 2 to 3 hours before going to bed is a good idea, in order to digest properly. But it's perfectly safe to eat before going to bed, you just might have more trouble falling asleep.

Most sources say the perfect time for having the last meal is 2 to 3 hours before sleep, which works perfectly well for me.
