My stepsister when I was leaving to go to my mother's house gave me a really long hug out of nowhere. Like she rarely ever touches me when it does it's either for a split second or a long time. So when she hugged me she put her face in my chest and squeezed tight, I even said I don't like hugs and some other stuff to get her off. She wouldn't budge I had to pry her off of me. Is this some significant reason behind this or am I just reading too much into the situation. For personal reasons I'm not going to disclose or ages or names but we are both teenagers and she is one year older then I am.
Side question had this happens to you with anyone before and if so did you find out why it did.
How long should a hug last?

It could be any number of things, and I think the best way to find out is to have a discussion with her about it. I can imagine that might be uncomfortable and you may not like that idea, but who knows, maybe she has something she wants to say to you and starting this discussion could lead her into it.
I am only speculating here, so I could be way off, but is there any chance she likes you as more than a step- sister? Do you know if she's straight or gay? I only ask because what you described is how my roommate in college acted with me. I had no idea that she was in love with me. I finally came out and had a talk with her about it and it was good to get it out in the open and deal with it head-on.
Another total speculating guess... Has she had any depression or suicidal thoughts? Could it be a cry for help?
Or perhaps she's going through a hard time and just really needs some hugs?
Perhaps you could say to her " You seem to really want a long hug right now. Can I ask why that is?" "You're not always like this."
I wish you the best of luck.
