Scientists have some really strange habits. One is that they flatly refuse to acknowledge the effects of electricity except in equipment specifically designed to use it. They say "The magnetic field is generated by electric currents due to the motion of convection currents of molten iron in the Earth's outer core driven by heat escaping from the core, a natural process called a geodynamo." (SOURCE en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth%27s_magnetic_field ) Other scientists consider it basic that a magnetic field is generated by an electric current, not motion of anything, and molten iron is not capable of sustaining a magnetic field. But a lot of scientists would rather be wrong than uncertain.
