How is a musical score set up? Is is arranged by clef in a specific order or what? If so, what order

A music score consist of all of the instrument's music that is in the piece. So when the conductor is conducting and he hears a mistake in lets say the trombones, he can stop the class and look at the trombone's part and say "you played a Bb instead of an Eb on measure 12."
