I won't say very important, though if you like someone you have to be attracted to them as well. I don't like blondes, while others do, so I won't date someone that is blonde. It is just a preference, so I would say that looks shouldn't be the main focus, as you can be a stunner and have a crap personality, but it does play a part yes.
Quite important but personality is more important. The initial attraction is almost always physical but it's personality that makes a relationship last and I've never known any one think, "That person is rather ugly but I'll go see if they have a lovely personality."
