I plan to run for Minnesota State Senate when I turn 21 or 22 years old. I know a lot about the political process and what to do before you start the earliest stages of your campaign, but I am concerned that there might be some setbacks. First and most prevalent, my political party. As you probably know, Minnesota is one of the most blue states, up there with New York and California. Unfortunately, I am a Libertarian, and even worse, a right-leaning one with only a few left-leaning ideological beliefs. Another setback is my location. I live in a small town with only barely over 6,000 residents, and outside of this town, my name is even more rarely known than it is inside the town. Yet another setback, I am an Atheist, and while the rest of the world seems to be moving with me, the world of politics seems almost entirely christian. What can I do in the 6 to 7 year period between now and when I plan to seek public office to assure that these aren't issues, and that my name is more recognized?
