The speed at which the Earth spins on its own axis, depends upon what latitude you are located at. If you measured the speed of rotation at one of the poles the speed would be almost zero. However the closer you move to the equator the faster the planet will be spinning, at the equator that speed would be just over 1,000 miles per hour. The earth is also moving around the sun at a speed of approximately 67,000 miles per hour.
