Our head of school recently started a Teacher of the month Award. We are a big school with almost 200 teachers. I would like to know how successful it was for other schools.

In a public school, everybody knows that teachers are scapegoats. Any time the principle is embarrassed, he fires a teacher and the incident is forgotten. Awards have no meaning for a scapegoat.
Even worse is the district where they don't have the fortitude to actually fire anybody. They only send them to "The Rubber Room" while they "investigate".
