... set out (we took it away now). We have 13 chickens, a goose and multiple feral cats we feed. We've heard from several people that a fox killed their animals (mostly birds). It was suggested that we shoot the fox. My family and I have an immense love for animals and dread shooting it. However, we don't want the fox to kill our birds. Animal control won't do anything about it and if we set a trap most likely a coon or a cat will get caught in it. Also, we suspect the fox has babies. We haven't seen them, just figured the father was out hunting. Is there any way around not killing the fox? Thank you.

If you live in the country - this is just something you have to deal with daily.
I suggest you build a huge cage; place all of your animals inside of it and they will be safe. I know, those living in the country or near forests, build huge cages around their gardens so the deer won't eat everything.
