How does Chewbacca tell people his name is Chewbacca? He only says “Orrrrfff” and?

It must be a name somebody gave to him, like we give a name to dog and say it until he starts to react to it. Maybe Chewbacca liked to chew tobacco and this became his nickname.... :)
