I come back to my car to find a citation on my wind shield saying my decal was expired. No idea how the cop didn't clearly see it has the decal that says 10-17 on it. Anyways I call the parking violation department and tell them my decal was not expired and was displayed on my license plate and I have proof of purchase. I send in my information. They send me back a letter saying my registration was up to date, but i have to pay 10 dollars to dismiss it? Why would I have to pay 10 dollars to dismiss the ticket when I got the ticket by mistake in the first place? I already sent a letter in explaining this and the hearing officer said I have to pay the 10 dollars. I now have to go to court and waste time to fight something I got by mistake. I understand it's just 10 dollars which is nothing to most people, but i don't like that the city is literally trying to steal money from me. So referring to my initial question how would a judge fairly judge this situation? Even though I have proof of purchase, I don't have proof of having the decal on at the time the cop said it was not on since I wasn't even at my car to contest it. The cop gave me the citation on Nov 7th 2016. I renewed my registration on Oct 28th 2016. I received the decal in mail Nov 5th and placed it on my license plate at the top right corner same day. But the cop will not have a picture of it not being on my plate either and i'm saying that because my decal was actually on my plate before the date he issued the citation, so if he does have a picture of a plate which I doubt anyway it wouldn't be of my plate.
