Have this question for homework, I'm just not sure what it means by "dimensions of 1.5cm". Please explain in-depth and in layman's terms if possible :D

A square is defined by four sides of the same length at right angles. One number defines the size of a square: the length of one side.
Get some buttons or beans and lay them in two lines of two buttons each. Count the buttons you used. You have a square with sides of two and there are four buttons. Do three rows of three buttons and you have a square of nine buttons. That is why we call four, nine, sixteen, and so on "square numbers".
Thanks a lot! But why did you put 1.5 to the power of 2? And which part of the square is the dimension?
