Hi, I’m 13 years old and I think I started today. There wasn’t much blood at all but I know that first periods arnt usually too heavy. I get embarrassed very easily and I don’t like talking to my mum about things like this. How do I tell her without being embarrassed?

Write her a note and leave it somewhere where u know she will see it at. Just have it say, Mom I started my period today-just thought u would want to know! Or u can even say, Today Im officially a women!-luv u mom. I understand u are very shy but u will feel so much better once u tell her kuz thats what moms are there for- to love our little girls when they need us. My daughter was very shy as well when she was younger and still is at somethings but she's learned that she would prefer to have to deal with a little shiness and be with the ones she loves(mom), then to let her shiness keep her from those she loves and those who love her. Today is a very special day for you and your mom has waited 13yrs for this moment to happen. Go write her a note and let her know, OK! I know u can do it. I have faith in u. Congrats sweety! Hugs
You have to tell her, who is gonna buy your pads? Stop focusing on the fact that you are shy, and focus on the practical side of the situation. Do you work? no. Do you have money? no. Do you need your mom to buy you pads? yes. Does she have to know you got your period in order to buy you pads? yes. Go to her thinking about these questions, and tell her straight forward: I got my period, but please dont make a big deal out of this, I really dont want to talk about it, I just need pads or whatever you use. That's it. Im speaking from experience, used to be extremely shy, didnt get me nowhere, and complicated my life to the max. Good luck!
