I need help with how to suggest to my boss that I want to work past contract and pursue a permanent position. I am in a complicated position and currently working in educational technology as a contracted technician, and my contract is soon coming to an end. However, I'd like to pursue finding a permanent position in the department. Managers have expressed interest in me continuing to work for them- however, there are no new positions open, and one would most likely need to be created for me. Doing so would be expensive and complicated. How do I strike up a conversation about this with my boss, and what are good ways to make it clear that I am willing to stick around permanently?
How do I suggest to my boss that I want a permanent position?
