How do I stop my emails from going into my trash instead of my inbox?

my trash is going into my inbox and my real emails are going into trash.  this started when I had to change my password, a regular problem with having all Apple products (computer, laptop, etc.)  Apple says it's a gmail.com / google problem and they can't help.  has anyone found a way to reverse this problem?

if there is any mail that shouldn't be going in the trash you should have a section at the top of your mail box that says isn't trash or spam you just click onto  the top to change it  normally it isn't really hard.
