I am very shy and have anxiety. If I am in a new situation, let’s say going to college, I am not good at speaking up unless I get comfortable. And getting comfortable takes a long time.

Im shy to. I understand you dont want to speak up and thats ok. When I have to speak up about bullying my friends usually help me. Maybe pretend your talking to someone your comfortable with. When it was my first day of middle school I had ALOT of anxiety, even though I went to the tour before! Boy it took me 10 minutes just to get to my english class! Just be yourself. Im pretty wild I like making puns, being dumb. Surprisingly I made alot of friends that way. Most of them from the locker room. Well I gotta go to middle school right now. Talk to you later! Bye!
It's easiest just to find another shy person and be friends with them. Then you can start talking to other people that are a bit similar to you and your friend's personality and just talk to them a little, like asking them to explain your homework or something. Then you will be comfortable with them and they will likely have other friends that see you and accept you, and then you can join their social group more easily. But like I said, just start by talking to another shy person in your class and become good friends with them. It is much easier this way.
