I've heard many different suggestions and not sure who's right. Do I only plug it in to charge? Do I leave it plugged in when using? Any help is appreciated.

One of the worst thing you can do is use your device while it charges. Try to routinely turn it off when not needed and while charging. I find that whenever I buy an electronic device if I charge it to 100% before using it right out if the box it makes for a overall better battery life.
