How do I play notes on a trumpet up or down an octave?

Im completely new to this. No idea what notes to jump down to or up. I dont have a good ear. What notes match others? Prefferably top and above the staff

Do you mean like when a middle C matches a low C? 
Or like their positions on a staff?
