How do I get rid of labels when file is empty and no longer needed?

Every program you use has a tools menu someplace. In my mail program the menu is concealed until I click in the upper left corner. Then I get a menu and one item there is "Customize" and that gives me the option to add or delete or move things. In Windows you can click the "START" icon lower left and get a menu of menus that allows you to control almost everything in the computer. In Firefox the menu is a funny looking icon in the upper right. Another menu is to point at something and right click. If you right click a blank area on the desktop, one option is to rotate the screen so you can turn your monitor and look at tall pictures instead of wide pictures. You don't have to memorize everything, just remember where to look for it. Then you can claim to know how to operate a computer on the beginner level.
