How do I get out of being best man?

So I agreed to be best man for an old friend who clearly doesn't respect me. He ignores my calls but texts in a group chat 3 seconds later, and after I asked his wife how her holiday was in a long message showing loads of interest she didn't even reply. Had a tough year as I got divorced, so now in my life I will not be disrespected, how do I pull out? Do I just say the truth or do I make something up? Either way I don't want to do it because I've seen the guy once in a year and this was when I was going through the toughest time of my life.... divorce from an abusive ex wife.

Any advice?

Hi now first things first some jobs u can't pick a phone but can only text,on the positive side say he saw ur call an never got back to u but decided when he is free he wud get back to u if in that case it never happend like that,just be frank with him and tell him u don't wanna b the best man,and rem how they are gonna feel,if the wedding is close don't do it,just go for it,help them,but if its far say in a months time then take action now..all the best.
