How do I get him to ask me to the dance?

I know I don't really have to worry about this until next year. But there's a boy in my 4th grade class who I really like and a lot of people say he likes me. Next year is the 5-6th grade dance and everyone is talking about who's going to ask me out. I think the reason I'm mostly asking about this is a lot of boys are going to be turned down if he doesn't ask early in the year next year so I want to make sure he does, or at least attempts to. I'm one of the prettier girls who the boys talk about, a lot.

Gain his attention, get to be his friend, best friend, throw a few silent flirts... Then ask him if he want to go with you! (if he didn't ask you already!)

You've got time, I remember when I was in 4th grade thinking that the middle school dances were such a huge deal, but even if you don't go with anybody, you can have a great time and you have plenty of time to meet boys later in life! Life isn't about boys, and I would encourage you to not spend much time worrying about it! If he asks you, great! If not, you can still have a great time and there is always the next year, or another boy as well!
