How do I get a legal job with a criminal record?

Not all employers will refuse you.
Many small business owners will make their own decision not a corporate one.

A criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from employment. Depending on the type of criminal offense, such as a felony, misdemeanor, felony-traffic, misdemeanor-traffic, and the severity of each may vary greatly. Some employers may disqualify an applicant automatically if the offense is determined to be a "serious" offense by the employer's standards whereas other employers may request more information.

The person with the criminal record should be honest and continue working towards the job that they desire. Also, the person should consult with a criminal attorney in their state to determine whether they are eligible to have an offense sealed or expunged. For example, in Florida you may have offenses resulting from the same facts and circumstances sealed or expunged one time. In Georgia, there is a first time offender statute that provides leniency.
