What are you trying to update - OS version, preinstalled apps, other apps?
OS might be possible to update manually by obtaining the file from the manufacturer's website (then again, with my xiaomi there's was a bug which still prevented installation due to "low space"). Apps, you can get apk and permit install via dev options. Or you might just have a connectivity issue.
