Duh, that is like asking how air affects our breathing.

It sounds like you are familiar with the words but don't actually know what they mean. Do some homework and come back with a question that suggests a particular answer.

The way we consume electricity doesn't affect the way it's generated.
At peak times the real time operations at your local utility makes the call to operate older more expensive generation plants, that most likely run on Coal.
Don't know if that makes sense, hopefully.
