I am making a character who possesses the power of flight, but finding a "logical" perspective on the topic is quite challenging. The idea of energy wings has come up, but I'm not sure if that would be practical. I want an easy but efficient way for this character to fly. So, this is a two part question: How do energy wings work? And are their better solutions to flight in a sci-fi/fantasy world?

It's not only challenging, all the conclusions are silly. The pilot of a hang glider has a harness around his hips, and that's ok, but when he raises his feet to streamline his body, his weight is tranferred to the front of his hips, and that cuts off blood flow. Supporting weight in any other manner makes him look like he is thrown over a clothesline, or else flying on a surfboard. And there isn't any other way to do it. Nevertheless, flying people make for a good story, so don't try to explain it. Just tell a good story, and let your reader imagine the details.
