The lynching and torture of blacks in the Jim Crow South were not just acts racism,
They were religious rituals.
Many terrible things were done in the name of Christ, like for instance the Crusades and the Inquisition. Slavery and Jim Crow was often justified in the name of Christ. People follow like sheep with many wrong shepherds.
The Bible, quotes Jesus as saying about the people in his day as being like "Sheep without a Shepherd", (Matthews 9:36) Today is no different, people do not change, history repeats when people do not learn from the past, and choose to resist any truths
the Bible presents.
(2 Timothy 4:3) Says, "For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled".
They insist on doing things their way, not God's way, which is what got us into this mess in the first place.
A person needs to know and understand a law before they can apply it. That is why the Bible encourages, at John 17:3, to get to know who God is, and also who his son is.
