How current are the Google maps and Google earth. Is the view I see real time or months old?

The Google maps and Google earth pictures are old. The date will be somewhere on the page if you look closely

Some photos are ten years old. Nothing is real time. For one thing, countries object to HD photos of some areas, so Google obscures those images.
