A very broad generalisation but the answer may be that in the Northern Hemisphere the southern side of the mountain will be warmer and possibly have more vegetation and the northern side will be colder and more barren. Of course there would be a lot of local variables in play but this is a simplistic explanation.
The opposite occurs the Southern Hemisphere - the northern side of the mountain will be warmer and possibly have more vegetation and the southern side will be colder.
