How can we stop the dog barking at night?

First figure out why is he barking. Does he sleep outside your bedroom ? Is he lonely ? Does he need to go to the bathroom or eat ? If he sleep outside of your room is it all dark ?
I have had many dogs. Usually they will bark if they are feeling lonely, need to go to the bathroom, or sense danger. He isn't barking for no reason!
