I've suffered with extremely oily skin for about seven years now. It's at a point where I have spots forming around my lips and in my nose and it's just unbearably painful. It's affecting my social life as I don't want to be seen by anyone. I can't even remember the last time I didn't have to worry about my skin getting very shiny, even ten minutes after I wash my face. I've been to a dermatologist and she was as helpful as a chocolate teapot. She told me that there wasn't really anything she could do, so please do not suggest that. Thank you.

There are a variety of over the counter products you can buy that will help "dry out" oily skin but no one can help you with the root cause of the problem. I too have bery oily skin and it was terrible during my teens, I still get spots and I'm in my 40s. My dermatologist could do nothing except sugggest what I just have. It may also help to use a body wash/shampoo combo for oily skin and use a pore cleanser/facial scrub as that oily skin is a devil for clogging up pores which is why you're getting the spots so, to recap..
Get a decent facial scrub for oily skin, use a combo body wash shampoo for oily skin and get a "dry out skin" lotion from the pharmacy, it's over the counter so you don't need a prescription. Also avoid dusty environments and try sleeping with a clean towel wrapped around your pillow every night for a week and see if that helps (it worked wonders for me). Good luck and my sympathies
I KNOW YOUR PAIN! I avoided oil like the plague! in the last couple years I've gotten into natural oils and it has changed my skin completely! You have to find your right blend or specific oil but my skin loves jojoba and argan oils. Jojoba actually is the closest oil to our skins natural oil (sebum) and when used regularly skins oil production decreases! Argan helps clear my breakouts and is extremely light absorbing almost immediately. Mixing any organic oil with castor oil can be used to cleanse pores. Do some carrier oil research and try one at a time for at least 3-4 weeks to see results.
