So i received a victrola 6-in-1 player from my girlfriend and it has a weird performance. because of the small platter i understand the heavier the record the more it spins which causes it to wobble and bump stuff so 2 of my 4 records have performance issues. Rose by the front bottoms bumps but there is no sound problems. On the other hand the record with the C and D sides of Elliot Smith's New Moon album is incredibly distorted and bumps against the side of the back of the player a lot. Other than this the sound is fine so i plan to take off the couple millimeters of the player that the records are hitting as a makeshift fix if that is indeed the problem. I understand this player is obviously not prestigious by any means but i am relatively pleased by my performance i'm just wondering what else i may have to look out for and/ or worry about in the future as far as what modifications i could make to the player to make it play better with heavier records.
Thanks!
How can I make my victrola record player work better?
