I have recently gained weight due to medication. I had minor depression so the doctors gave me an antidepressent to help me coupe with my depression. One of the side effects of that medicine was extreme weight gain. I started of at 110 lbs. Once I was diagnosed with depression, I put on 50 lbs. It was barely noticable. After two months of the antidepressent, I weighed 220 lbs. This is when everybody noticed how fat I was getting. I decided to diet and went down to 200 lbs. The diet soon failed so I went up to 235. Next I tried dieting with exercise. I went down to 220 and that's diet failed too so I went up to 245. The doctor put me on another antidepressant. The side effect of that was a less severe weight gain risk. Nothing happened but my appetite had grown largely from my failed diets. I went from 245 to 260 in a month. My appetite had largely grown and I was eating as much as three people. My appetite was growing larger and larger every month and so did my weight. In two years, I went from 110 lbs. to 330 lbs. Please, if you could help, do so.

First, get a new doctor. It does no good to cure the depression if you die of obesity. Second, study some books about nutrition so you know how to eat right. For instance you should figure out how much fat you want per day and get it all for breakfast. Fat slows digestion so you don't get hungry between meals. The first line of defense against depression and anxiety is B vitamins. Get nutritional yeast powder and/or B-100 pills. Vitamin B2 is a water soluble dye that turns urine bright yellow. So when the color fades, it's time for another pill. Doctors won't tell you that because they have no training in nutrition.
You should be eating about 0.4 gram of complete protein per pound of body weight every day, counting only 6 grams per egg, 12 grams per glass of milk, and 24 grams per quarter pound of meat. Cut down on bread products and added sugar. Eat veggies with every meal to keep your bowel movements regular.
Fat is made of carbon and hydrogen. The only way it comes out of the body is if it is turned into carbon dioxide and water and then it comes out through the lungs. So that involves a lot of heavy breathing, and that means jogging or aerobic dancing. Walking seems to work well. Figure on losing one pound per week when you are doing things right.
