Sorry kid,I tried. Hope you find what makes you happy.
Dogs will not try to hurt a member of the family. If you treat the rat like any other pet in your family then dogs will understand that the rat has a special relationship with you.
Rats are clean, intelligent, affectionate animals which bond to their human companions in much the same way that dogs do.
Unlike many other rodents, however, rats are a fairly high maintenance pet. They need at least an hour's playtime outside their cage every day. Because they are much more intelligent than many other small animals, rats can suffer greatly if not given enough attention, free-range time, and environmental stimulation. While rats are extremely rewarding pets and will repay any attention and affection you give them a thousand fold, they may not be suitable for everyone; if you cannot guarantee to give your rats at least an hour of quality time every day, then perhaps a lower maintenance pet would be more suitable.

What YOU need to do is become obsessed with rats. Buy posters, print out cute rat pics, gaze longingly into cages full of the sweeties in the pet stores. That's what I did, and MY rat (Kimby) is snoozing in a cute heap in her cage upstairs as I write this.
Also, if you get a rat, get one from the litter of 25 which are available in the Lilac Mall at Pet Paradise. If they aren't sold in one month, they'll be sold as snake food! :(
Keep it in your bedroom and don't let the dogs in the room, or u could let the dogs get used to the rat whilst the rats in its cage, and once the dogs are used to that u can hold the rat around them. You just have to make sure the dogs know that the rat is a pet and not a toy. Don't know if this was helpful
No way I'm 100% on board with a rat first of all rabbits are not much bigger than rats and they can get dog proof cages too. So thanks a lot for not answering my question
