Go for it, if he used to theres a chance he still does, and if you want to hold his hand then just say give me your hand ( in a nice way and casually) and hold it, if he looks at you weirdly start skipping.
well if you held his hand you would know how he feels about it might be the best way to find out this sure would be a good way to see or give him a hug see if that shows anything
