I had a cold for a week or so, and then it turned into a cough, that has stayed with me for a week so far. I cough every few minutes or so, and its really annoying. Also, my voice is really raspy, and Im always hacking up mucus. I write songs and sing and play guitar, so you can see how that would negatively affect me. Any advice?

Avoid all dairy products. They will make you produce more mucus. Drink hot drinks (like green tea) with lemon and honey. Honey eases the throat, the lemon is just good for the vitamin C, and the heat of the drink kills germs in your mouth and throat.
If you like hot food, eat things with plenty of chillies, garlic, ginger, onions, and spices used in Indian cuisine. They'll flush out your systems and they're really good for your immune system. If I have a very hot curry when I'm coming down with a cold, often the cold never reaches full force and just fades away.
