So, I really love dogs, German Shepherds especially. I've expressed to my parents that I want to get one in several different ways, because I can be very shy when trying to tell people things they might say no to. I've been drawing pictures of dogs begging, rolling over, sitting, or being pet with little quotes next to it like, "Give a dog your heart. He'll never break it."
My mother asked what I knew about dogs once, and I provided her with information about German Shepherds that took about twenty minutes to say all of it.
Every Saturday I go to my Grandparent's house to help train their poodle, Sparky, and they've seen the progress I've made with her (teaching her to sit, stay, lie down, shake, and follow) and I've been deemed mature by my mother.
I understand that German Shepherds require a lot of maintenance, including grooming, obedience school, food, toys, collars, and leashes. Also any damage it may cause to items around my house. I would be ready to give up 90% of the money I have (that remaining 10% being a few dollars of pocket money or emergency money) for it.
I have three cats, two of which are beginning to slow down due to age, and one who is still a kitten. I was told by a friend who has four dogs and several cats that if puppies are raised around them, they won't bother them as much.
My yard is very large and I can commit to things that I love, so I wouldn't have a hard time going out to walk or play with a dog every day. In my area, Connecticut, we have hot summers and cold winters.

Please help me, using logical answers to respond. Please, no "Don't get a German Shepherd. They're too big." Those responses honestly discourage me in everything, not just dog owning. Thank you for your time!
