So summer vacation starts sometime in late March, and I told my mom that I'd like to sign up for a hip-hop dance workshop. The problem is, she says I can't because she doesn't want me to become a dancer when I grow up(and I do want to become one). I've told my friends about this problem and one even said "Why? She doesn't own your life!"
And even if I didn't want to become a dancer, joining a dance class in the vacation is just for fun and leisure. It won't guarantee that I get a dance career. I also just want to try something new this time and not just spend another boring summer vacation. Thanks to anyone who offers their thoughts.
Thanks so much, man! You really helped to shed some light on the situation. I think I found the problem though. Maybe it's because my grades went down a lot and it made my mom a bit mad about it that she didn't bother to take time to think about me wanting to go to a dance class. So, I'm thinking of really getting into my studies for this last school quarter and then asking her again. Maybe she'll be more positive about it. Thanks again!
