Our dog at the age of 5 has recently started consistently urinating within the house... He has never done this before but now is constantly doing it all over the house... We mainly keep him confined in the kitchen due to him shedding too much hair and he urinates all over the kitchen ( 3 or 4 times a night)... Someone in the family recently went to university which May factor into it... Although on his return he continued to urinate in the house - we let him out before sleep and in the morning and during lunch.... Although recently our neighbors have got a dog which our dog spends all his time outside barking at.... Maybe he doesn't spend his time outside to urinate but instead to bark? We really don't know what to do and may have to give him away or put him down....

In my experience witg dogs, those that start "un-breaking" tend to be doing it out of anxiety. The "loss" of an owner alone can do it. Couple that with the confinement and it's a double whammy. Also, if the next door dofis a female it maybe "scenting" it's area.
If its the first two, then free time and attention should start helping tge issue. A way to tell if its the latter is if the urine is dark and pungent - in that case I can only say it's doing what comes naturally and have no suggestions, sorry.
"give him away or put him down"
Just do that, asking random strangers on the internet instead of a Vet is an indication of how little you think him, "mainly keep him confined in the kitchen", you do know animals need attention, exercise, affection and to be part of the family/pack?
This dog isn't a thing it's a who, it's a member of your family (look out elderly relatives!) without trying to seek out professional help or even asking yourself "Is there something I am doing/can do to help him?".
5 years and for the cost/sake of a trip to a vet, you are just going to put him down?
You don't deserve a dog, next time get a pot plant.
Very quick to be jumping to conclusions, we are so. Going to be taking him to the vets, but the vets haven't been too useful with information when we asked so I wanted to see if i could get anything useful of the internet, oh and when I said 'confined' him in the kitchen, it was a slight exeraggeration, he's reguarly allowed out to be with us, either that or someone goes into the kitchen to play or to embrace him. He's taken on reguar walks.
