So recently my late grandfathers house sold and i received £1,000 from it, i am stuck as to whether i should use the money to pay for insurance and buy my first car (I am 18) which i have waited for a very long time, or go on vacation with my boyfriend for the first time (dating 3 years). I have no idea what to do because i want my own car for when i start back to school as I'm always in need of a lift home off friends. But i really want to experience a vacation with my boyfriend we've wanted to go away together for some time but never had the money to, this would be perfect for me to surprise him and take him away as he haunt been abroad in years. Any advice on this would help me decide is very much appreciated, thanks:)

This is the sort of decision that sets the mood for your entire life, and it might take your entire life to learn why. You are aware of two choices: one useful but not necessary, and one entirely frivolous. I, a lifetime older than you, am aware of a very different choice.
The price of gold at the moment is about 75 times the price of silver. That ratio varies from 30:1 up to 100:1 and is expected to return to its historic value of 10:1 at some unpredictable time. You can buy silver and hide it at home until the ratio goes down, at which time you would exchange it for gold. When the ratio goes back up, you can exchange your gold for silver, roughly doubling your holdings with no additional money. In the USA there is no tax obligation on such an exchange. The only danger is that if you keep your metals in some bank's vault, the bank can steal it and you have no recourse. That has happened occasionally.
I began this plan when I retired in 2006, investing part of my social security dole. I have now built up my holdings to about the price of a small house. This nation is so bonkers that it is considered a crime to have that much cash. But the best part of the plan is that we expect the nation to collapse, and precious metals never collapse.
